Spring Awakening rehearsal Photographs

Over the past couple of months I have been photographing the rehearsal process of a new musical called Spring Awakening. Spring Awakening is a Tony-award winning musical with music by Duncan Sheik and lyrics by Steven Slater. It has been absolutely massive in the US and the director Micheal Mayer has brought over a lot of the American production team to put on Spring Awakening in London with a British cast.

I have been asked to do a number of photographic projects with the cast and I will be blogging about some of these in the future, but here is a taster of the rehearsal photographs.

Spring Awakening is a really energetic, high octane musical. The cast are young, aged between 16 and 24, which is just as well given the amount of leaping of chairs they get up to!

Evelyn Hoskins who plays Thea, shares a laugh with the Swing actress Gemma O'Duffy and the Resident Dance Supervisor Matthew Cheney.

The other male lead is Aneurin Barnard who plays Melchior.

In this particular rehearsal, original Choreographer Bill T. Jones stopped by for a workshop with the cast. Lauren Pritchard, the original Ilsa from the US version and director Michael Mayer can be seen in the foreground.
